Lavea'i's 2nd Bash!

I am usually really good about making my kids own birthday cakes, but the last couple of them a lightbulb flashed in my head realizing that my kids only eat the ice cream. AND...since they only eat the ice cream, "Why not just order an ice cream cake?" I didn't want to spend the money on the ice cream cake because when I worked at DQ in my teen years, I learned how to make them and to me it is not worth the money. But with a coupon and ordering the smallest cake Cold Stone made, I brought myself to do it (with a note to myself that next time, I will do it myself). The kids kept asking what the round things were on the cake and I kept having to tell them they were balloons...so that was strike 2 for ordering the cake (strike 1 being the price). So here is a picture of it and I added the sprinkles to it when I got home.

We took the kids to a place called "Jump On It." Kids 3 and under are free and the other 2 were only $4/per. It made for a cheap birthday activity and once the kids started jumping on the trampolines, they had fun. It took Lavea'i a while to get into it, but eventually he did. The place is just a bunch of trampolines put next to each other covered with pads in between them to make sure the kids don't get hurt. By the end of the hour, the kids were really hungry and so we ordered pizza from Papa Johns.

After dinner, I let Lavea'i open his gift from "Gamma" so we could call her and say thanks. He loves to talk on the phone, but not for long so it is not hard to get him to say thank you.

Afterwards, the kids went downstairs to watch "Avatar: The Last Airbender." Needless to say, they got bored about half way through it so we turned it off to sing to him, have cake and open his gift from Cliff and I. Kalena also gave him some money. She was so excited to give it to him, so I let her do it before we called my mom to say thanks.

After singing to Lavea'i, the kids didn't even wait, but blew the candles out for him. So, we relit the candles and let him try by himself, but he couldn't do it, so the kids did it again. I also didn't wrap Lavea'i's gift, so just call me ghetto. Cliff threw his jacket over it and let him just uncover it.

All day long I would ask him how old he was so he would know what to tell people and he showed me by putting up all five fingers and saying "Lua." (means 2 in Samoan) At least he says the number right, just need to work on the fingers.

He is such a strong-willed little boy who always wants his mom. He never wants to sleep and often cries himself to sleep in my arms or with me lying next to him. He loves fruits and just loves to eat. He is not afraid of Mom OR DAD for that matter. He tests our patience all of the time. But, he is a fun, loving boy with a HUGE personality. Love him to death!

The Last of the Baptisms: Tunoa

I am amazed at how beautiful this day turned out! Tunoa has not been excited to be baptized at all until he had his interview with the Bisho...
